While this is expected with all the changes that have been implemented over the past few weeks, there are some creative ways that you as a restaurant owner can try to boost your sales and get back to the same capacity, if not more, during this time. Adopt a Nurse or Doctor

A restaurant in California called Tootsie’s thought of a creative way to provide for the hospital staff in their local area and keep business booming through their catering service. They created a marketing campaign called, Adopt a Nurse or Doc program. Through this program, the public is asked to make donations to purchase catered meals for the local nurses and doctors. The restaurant would then take the meals to the hospital for the workers to divide amongst themselves. What an awesome idea!

Add Humor to Your Orders

Sometimes it pays to find humor in some situations and use it to your advantage. This restaurant in Kentucky started marketing a free role of toilet paper with every to-go order and they saw a huge influx in sales from it. Bakeries are also thinking on the humorous side and creating toilet paper cakes and even smiley face cookies with face masks on them. While we agree there is a fine line between poking fun and being insensitive, if the humor is done right, you could see a great payoff.

Turn Into a Grocery Delivery Hub

Did you have to do the unfortunate and layoff or furlough most of your staff but still have your inventory of perishable foods? Instead of letting these go to waste, why not open up your kitchen to the public and allow them to buy your ingredients as groceries. You could post your list of items you have available and allow people to place orders. Then utilize the staff you were able to keep on board to deliver the groceries. If this is a hit, you may be able to keep your supplier busy and continue making money. You could also provide some recipes to go along with the grocery orders to give your customers new meal ideas while quarantined at home.

Partner With a Local Design Shop

If there is one thing that people love, it’s a fun t-shirt with a cause behind it. This restaurant partnered with a local design shop to create some designs that would be eye-catching for customers to buy. The proceeds of the shirt sales can help cover costs and give you free marketing every time someone wears the shirt out, that is once everyone is allowed to roam free again.
