Recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/person\/isabel-casillas-guzman?utm_source=123&amp;utm_medium=123&amp;utm_term=current&amp;utm_content=Sept%20001&amp;utm_campaign=1231111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1OGN3trviAMVB01HAR2MpQzhEAAYCiAAEgKJovD_BwE\">SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman<\/a> announced a change to the SBA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/funding-programs\/loans\/504-loans\">504 Loan Program<\/a> that stands to make it easier for business owners to refinance debt. The 504 Loan Program, according to the SBA\u2019s website, \u201cprovides long-term, fixed rate financing for major fixed assets that promote business growth and job creation.\u201d This new rule change, which goes into effect on November 14, 2024, will help streamline access to debt refinancing for small business owners, allowing them to \u201creduce their debt payments and\/or access more affordable capital for expansion or growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we know, the Federal Reserve recently made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankrate.com\/loans\/small-business\/how-federal-reserve-affects-business-loans\/\">September rate cut<\/a>, which is already making it cheaper for SMBs to borrow money. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2024\/09\/30\/2955718\/0\/en\/Biden-Harris-Administration-Finalizes-Rule-to-Lower-Costs-for-Small-Businesses.html\">According<\/a> to Administrator Guzman<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cSBA\u2019s new rule will help business owners lower costs by streamlining access to debt refinancing so they can reduce payments and access more affordable capital. Small businesses are the engines of our economy, and the Biden-Harris Administration is delivering remarkable progress to improve their bottom lines and help them continue to fuel America\u2019s historic economic recovery and Small Business Boom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Key Updates to the 504 Loan Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regulations have been amended as they relate to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Debt refinancing with expansion<\/strong>; this applies to business owners who want to refinance their existing debts while using the loan proceeds to expand their business<\/li>\n<li><strong>Debt refinancing without expansion<\/strong>; this applies to business owners who want to refinance their existing debts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes will simplify the application process and broaden eligibility criteria for borrowers. Put simply, this will make it easier for SMBs to refinance land, equipment, or facilities. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/smbs\/2024\/small-business-administration-unveils-lower-cost-debt-refinancing-program\/\">Lower monthly payments<\/a>, \u201cincluding for debts incurred when originally financing these fixed assets,\u201d will allow business owners to reinvest in the growth of their company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the rule expands how businesses can use the money they receive from refinancing.
