New Partnerships, Co-Branding<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the biggest trends in 2021 was ghost kitchens<\/a>. Even if you haven\u2019t heard this term, more than likely you\u2019ve come across a living example (no pun intended) at some point over the last year. The term \u201cghost kitchen\u201d refers to a restaurant that has forgone its dining area and become delivery-only. While this helped keep costs down by reducing staff and overhead, going ghost didn\u2019t prove well for some. For those that didn\u2019t fare as well, there may be an alternative. This year experts are predicting that many restaurants will form partnerships with other full-serve restaurants to host their kitchen and sell their brand. A prime example of this is Famous Dave\u2019s BBQ<\/a> which cobranded with the Italian restaurant chain, Johnny Carino\u2019s back in 2020 and has shown significant success with the partnership. We expect to see many other restaurants take note of this successful co-branding partnership in 2022.<\/p>\n

Robots and Automation<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been seeing an increase in demand for restaurant-specific robots<\/a> since the big \u201cI quit\u201d movement that was created in response to the pandemic in 2020. The Great Resignation caused a turmoil effect on hiring and retaining quality workers in the restaurant industry. We predict that this turn to robotics and other automated processes will continue to take precedent over finding ways to entice workers to come on board and stay. Technologies like self-ordering kiosks<\/a>, automated coffee ordering systems, and artificial intelligence in the drive-thru<\/a> are already being implemented in restaurants every day.<\/p>\n

Out With Curbside, In With Personal Pickups<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you remember when the curbside concept seemed genius for sit-down restaurants without a drive-thru? Well, those days are past us. Due to workforce shortages and rampant turnover, curbside is now seen as a hindrance since it requires yet another dedicated employee to run out the orders and collect payments.
