For a list of laws you need to abide by, we turned to <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.findlaw.com\/employment-law-and-human-resources\/frequently-asked-questions-regarding-hiring-laws.html\" class=\"broken_link\">FindLaw<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/statutes\/titlevii.cfm\">Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964<\/a> prohibits employers from discriminating based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/statutes\/epa.cfm\">Equal Pay Act of 1963<\/a> (EPA) prohibits employers from discriminating based on sex in the payment of wages.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/statutes\/adea.cfm\">Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967<\/a> (ADEA) prohibits discrimination based on age.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/statutes\/ada.cfm\">Titles I and Title V of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990<\/a> (ADA) applies to both private sector and state and local governments and prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>The Civil Rights Act of 1991 provides monetary damages in cases of intentional employment discrimination.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/types\/genetic.cfm\">Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008<\/a> (GINA) prohibits genetic information discrimination in employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Get Your Employer Identification Number<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you don\u2019t already have one, you\u2019ll definitely need an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/businesses\/small-businesses-self-employed\/employer-id-numbers\">Employer Identification Number<\/a> (EIN) before you can even begin the hiring process.
